How to fight cold symptoms in just 24 hours

Oranges are rich in vitamin C, which is good for accelerating the healing of the cold.
In a climate such as winter, for many it is inevitable to experience some symptoms of the cold that prevent them from carrying out their daily activities normally.
When the weather is cold, our immune system weakens.  This makes us more prone to suffer from flu , colds, cough, or muscle pain, among others.
Therefore, we must be prepared to face the cold days.  It is necessary to adopt a routine that allows us to stay strong.
We must be alert to any of the health problems that may occur as a result of low temperatures.
Professor Ron Eccles , of the Common Cold Center of the University of Cardiff (United Kingdom), presents a routine to keep those cold symptoms away.  This helps us to fight cold in just 24 hours.

7:00 am - take a hot shower

This will help you if, because of the cold weather, you have woken up with a very annoying feeling in your joints and even feel headaches.
A hot shower could be the best way to start the day.  The hot water helps you relax and also the steam clears the sinuses .
  • This prevents congestion and also problems such as sinusitis.

8:00 a.m. - a healthy breakfast

Good nutrition is essential in recovery from colds.  Breakfast is the key to start the day right and fight against the annoying cold symptoms.
  • You can consume a natural orange juice and eat a cup of antioxidant-rich berries with a little oatmeal for more energy.
  • Another good option is to start your day with a broth of vegetables or chicken.

10:00 am - vaporization

During colds, our nose becomes congested and we have excess mucus, which prevents us from breathing normally.
When the paranasal sinuses are blocked, it is most likely that we experience sinusitis. This is accompanied by a terrible headache.
  • In this case it is good to consume an over-the-counter medication or some natural remedy to decongest.
  • A vaporization can also be done by placing the head covered with a towel over a bowl of boiling water, for 5 minutes.  This is ideal for soothing and clearing the airways.

Noon: take a walk

It seems like a challenge to challenge the cold outdoors.  A walk before lunch can help improve our mood and also stimulate the immune system .
Therefore, do not think that you do your body wrong if you go out when you have a cold.  A small walk could be of great help.

1:00 pm - lunch time

Avoid eating fried and unhealthy foods at lunch.  Ideally, prepare some grilled chicken with salad.
  • Chicken proteins help produce immune cells and boost the immune response.
  • For its part, the vegetables in the salad are rich in antioxidants and essential nutrients to combat colds.

3:00 pm - a healthy drink

The ideal is to consume a hot herbal tea to dilute the mucus and expel it easily.
  • You can also substitute tea for a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice .
  • Because of its high vitamin C content, it is good for the cold recovery process.

6:00 pm - dinner time

At dinner it is very good to consume a spicy food like curry or chili con carne.  This type of food will help you raise your body temperature and reduce cold symptoms .
  • Other ingredients that you can consider in your dinner are ginger, garlic and peppers.
  • They are known for their antiviral and also antibacterial properties.
  • They help us to fight the cold and also to clear the paranasal sinuses .

20:00 - relaxing bath for cold symptoms

At the end of the day it is very likely that you feel the muscles tired and sore as a result of the cold.
To sleep well and relax the muscles, the ideal is to take a bath of hot water. Take it one or two hours before going to sleep.
  • To this bath you can add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil.  It is done to potentiate its effects against cold symptoms.

22:00 - time to rest and sleep 8 hours

It is very important to go to rest early and have a good night's sleep.  In this way, forces are recovered quickly.
A good quality of sleep strengthens the immune system and helps us fight the symptoms of the cold.
  • You should avoid drinking drinks like coffee or alcohol before going to sleep.
  • These can prevent you from sleeping well.
